How Can You Help? |
Library Plans
|
Taylor Memorial Library is always looking for motivated volunteers to allow for longer operating hours and to help with other tasks. Contact Connie Chase if you are interested.
We currently are accepting donations of new and gently used recent (2021 or newer) fiction, non-fiction, and children's books. We also are happy to accept recent DVDs and Books on CD if they are in good condition. Anything not added to our collection will be put in the Friends of the Taylor Memorial Library (TML) book sale. A "Friends of the Library" group has been formed to advocate for the library, offer some volunteer help, and raise funds for things like special programs. Meetings are generally held on the third Tuesday at 6:30pm at the library. Want to help? Email [email protected] or stop in and talk to us. We are in the process of a multi phase plan to build an addition for a handicap bathroom and a new entrance that will be handicap accessible. In 2020 a well was put in for this purpose.
In 2023 we have a warrant item for the Town Meeting that will provide funds for the beginning of the addition. We have also submitted an application for a grant from the American Library Association for Libraries Transforming Communities (LTC): Accessible Small and Rural Communities. It is an initiative of the American Library Association (ALA) that provides community engagement and accessibility resources to small and rural libraries to help them better serve people with disabilities. There are two amount available, $10,000 or $20,000, we would only be awarded one of them if approved. Currently there is a crafting and games group every Monday evening that is open to everyone. Do you have an interest and/or skill you would like to share with the community either with a one-time even or a monthly or weekly meeting? If so, please contact Library Director Connie Chase. |
